Conditions we treat
Pregnancy Back & Pelvic Pain Care in Surrey, BC
Carrying a baby changes posture, load and hormones all at once. Discomfort is common — but there is a lot that careful, gentle care can do.
What it feels like
- Low back, pelvic girdle or hip pain during or after pregnancy
- Pain rolling over in bed, climbing stairs or standing on one leg
- Aching between the shoulder blades as posture adapts
Why it happens
Pregnancy shifts your centre of gravity, loosens ligaments and asks muscles to work in new ways — often faster than the body can comfortably adapt. Pain in the low back, pelvis and hips is common during pregnancy and in the postpartum months, and it deserves real care, not just reassurance.
How we can help
Our practitioners assess what is driving your discomfort and build gentle, stage-appropriate care around your pregnancy or postpartum recovery — positioning, pacing and comfort always come first. Prenatal massage is available alongside physiotherapy, and the plan follows your body’s lead, case by case. We coordinate with your midwife or physician whenever that is helpful.

Common questions
Is physiotherapy and massage safe during pregnancy?
With a practitioner experienced in prenatal care, yes — positioning, pressure and techniques are all adapted to your stage of pregnancy, and comfort leads every session. We also coordinate with your midwife or physician whenever that's useful.
Will the pain go away after the baby arrives?
For many people much of it settles, but not always on its own — postpartum bodies are rebuilding strength while doing the most demanding lifting job there is. If pain lingers after birth, targeted postpartum care is a reasonable next step.
