Muscle Strain Treatment in Surrey, BC

A pulled muscle usually announces itself mid-movement. What you do in the days and weeks after shapes how well it heals.

What it feels like

  • A sudden pulling or sharp pain in a muscle during activity
  • Tenderness, tightness or bruising over the muscle belly
  • Pain when stretching or contracting the muscle against resistance

Why it happens

Muscle strains range from a few overstretched fibres to more significant tears. Complete rest often leaves the muscle weaker and tighter than before, while returning too fast is the classic path to re-injury — the balance point is different for every person and every muscle.

How we can help

We assess how significant the strain is and what it needs at each stage — early protection, then progressive rebuilding matched to your sport, job or daily demands. Your practitioner adjusts the plan by how the tissue responds, not by the calendar. If bruising, weakness or the mechanism of injury suggests something more, we will tell you and help you get it looked at.

Common questions

Should I use ice or heat on a pulled muscle?

In the first couple of days, most people find cold more comfortable for settling a fresh strain; later on, heat often helps with stiffness. Neither is magic — what matters more is how the muscle is loaded and progressed over the following weeks.

How do I avoid pulling it again?

Re-injury usually happens when rehab stops at 'pain-free' instead of 'rebuilt'. The muscle needs to be progressively strengthened through the ranges and speeds your activity demands — that final stage is the one most people skip, and the one we focus on.
