Posture & Tech Neck Treatment in Surrey, BC

Hours over a laptop or phone, a neck that aches by 3 p.m., headaches by evening. The fix isn't "sit up straight" — it's capacity and variety.

What it feels like

  • Aching across the base of the neck and tops of the shoulders that builds through the workday
  • Tension headaches, tightness between the shoulder blades, or a stiff upper back
  • Tingling into the arm or hand after long stretches at a screen

Why it happens

There is no single "bad" posture — the problem is holding any position for hours with muscles that aren't conditioned for it. A head tilted forward over a phone roughly doubles or triples the load on the neck, and small, fatigued muscles respond by tightening and aching. Add a workstation that doesn't fit you, stress, shallow breathing and little movement through the day, and the neck and upper back become sensitised and sore. It affects students, office and remote workers, gamers and drivers alike.

How we can help

Assessment looks at how your neck, upper back and shoulders move, where the stiffness and weakness sit, and what your actual day looks like — desk, car, couch and phone included. Treatment combines hands-on work and massage to ease the tight, irritable tissue with a short, realistic exercise routine that builds the endurance your neck and upper back need, plus practical advice on workstation setup and movement breaks that you will actually do. If a workplace injury or motor vehicle accident is involved, we handle WorkSafeBC and ICBC billing.

Common questions

Do I need a standing desk or an expensive chair?

Usually not. Changing position regularly matters far more than finding one perfect position, and a few adjustments to your current setup — screen height, keyboard distance, chair height — typically make the biggest difference. We will tell you if your setup genuinely needs replacing.

Can posture really cause headaches?

Yes — tension-type and cervicogenic headaches often come from the small muscles and joints at the top of the neck, which take the strain when the head sits forward for long periods. Treating the neck frequently reduces headache frequency and intensity.

Most extended health plans cover treatment, and we direct bill — including ICBC and WorkSafeBC claims.
